Fleet and Equipment Manager

Department: Ops
Location: Sheridan, AR

Position Overview:
As the Fleet and Equipment Manager, you will lead the full lifecycle of our company’s fleet and equipment operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance. In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee everything from fleet acquisition and maintenance to budgeting and safety programs, all while building a culture of excellence and reliability. Your leadership will support our daily operations, helping us maintain top performance while meeting our safety and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Fleet Management
    • Oversee the acquisition, upkeep, and disposal of company vehicles and equipment.
    • Develop and implement policies to optimize fleet efficiency, lower costs, and ensure sustainability.
    • Utilize fleet management software to monitor vehicle usage and driver behavior, implementing best practices.
  2. Maintenance and Repair
    • Schedule and supervise regular inspections and maintenance, ensuring vehicles and equipment remain in peak condition.
    • Coordinate repairs, whether with internal teams or external providers, and keep accurate records of all maintenance activities and expenses.
  3. Compliance and Safety
    • Ensure all fleet operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Lead safety programs, conduct driver and operator training, and manage incident reporting and investigation.
  4. Budget Management
    • Create and manage the fleet and equipment budget, analyzing operational data to find cost-saving opportunities.
    • Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors, balancing cost-effectiveness with high standards of quality.
  5. Inventory Control
    • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of all vehicles and equipment.
    • Oversee registration, licensing, and insurance for all assets, and use asset tracking systems to monitor their status and location.
  6. Team Leadership
    • Manage and support a team of fleet coordinators, mechanics, and support staff.
    • Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  7. Additional Duties as Assigned

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Five years of management experience in fleet or equipment management.
  • Proven experience in managing team performance and fostering a strong safety culture.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) certification is a plus.

Key Skills and Abilities:

  • Expertise in vehicle maintenance, repair, and equipment management.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation laws, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Proficiency with fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skilled in budgeting, financial management, and data analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and motivate teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership, with a commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to high safety standards.

Special Requirements:

  • Background check, pre-employment drug test, and motor vehicle check required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Work primarily in a temperature-controlled office and maintenance facilities, with regular visits to outdoor job sites and vendor locations.
